Hello, my name is Aidan. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and I sing and play guitar in a band called the Thumbscrews.
I started Raccoon Man Art Collective in January of 2019, and, with the help of my good friend Sunny, transformed it into what it is today. I started this project partly as a way for me to feel like I had some sort of goal in life, but mostly because I really do love the local art and music scene. I was inspired to start this project by Dischord Records and their grass-roots DIY approach. My favorite bands are Fugazi, Bad Religion, Modest Mouse, My Chemical Romance, Sleater-Kinney, and Girlpool. My favorite local band is Clavicle. Yo! I'm Tom, but everyone calls me Sunny. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia just like Aidan, but spent some time outside the state in Boarding School seeking self-improvement. I play guitar and do backup vocals for Thumbscrews, and am currently working on a self-released acoustic album called Catharsis!
I joined RMAC because I wanted to give back to the Atlanta DIY community that's helped me find ways to make clothing, record music, organize events, etc. without corporate involvement! My personal goal for RMAC is to start organizing gigs, DIY meet-ups, and anything else I can do to help people get more involved with DIY. Atlanta has a MASSIVE gentrification issue that needs to be addressed, and i'm going to do my best to help find ways to fight against it! |
